Wellesley Country Club
Wellesley Hills, MA
The Wellesley Country Club began construction on Phase 1 of their Turf Care Center in the spring of 2014 and the facility was operational in November of 2014. Phase 2, which was the construction of a new Fuel & Wash Building was completed in the spring of 2015. GSA provided Superintendent Bill Sansone with Facility Evaluation, Master Plan, Design Services and Construction Administration Services.
The Turf Care Maintenance Facility is a two story steel framed, wood sided and asphalt roofed structure. The lower level is made up of three sections. The center section is a three bay equipment maintenance area accessible by 14’ overhead doors. Off the maintenance area is a parts room, tool room, mechanic’s office and a grinding room. The right side section of the lower level is an equipment storage area. The left side section of the lower level is an equipment storage area for smaller golf course maintenance equipment such as golf carts. The left end of the upper level houses the administration area, break room and employee lockers and restrooms. The second level in the center section contains irrigation storage, a carpentry room and light storage. Located on the right end of the upper level are four platform tennis courts and a warming hut. The courts are located on the roof of the equipment storage area.
The Environmental Management Center is designed by GSA to hold chemical storage, fertilizer storage, pre-mix and chemical mix and load operations. Waste water from wash down operations and any spills from fueling or mix and load processes are contained, treated and discharged to the municipal sewer system. Any accidental chemical or fertilizer spills can be recovered, treated and recycled thru a Carbtrol system or pumped into a storage tank for field application at a later time. This is a Zero Discharge Building, all waste water and any chemical spills are contained and treated within the building! The mix & load area also features overhead fill lines for filling sprayers and a chemical pre-mix system.
The Fuel & Wash Building contains a Hoover Vault tank system for storing and pumping gasoline and diesel fuels. A Carbtrol Water & Recycling System is being used in the equipment wash down area. The building has two lanes of access through both fueling and wash down areas. This building is also a Zero Discharge Building. All fuel spills are contained within the building and waste water is collected and treated.
Bulk materials are stored in a 6 bay poured concrete structure allowing each material to be easily accessed and stored separately with no chance of cross contamination. Topdressing sand is stored and dispensed from a 49 ton capacity sand silo.
GSA designed a 465 sf. ft. (on course) Comfort Station which contains a men’s and women’s restroom, utility room and weather shelter.
